Savonia University of Applied sciences, Seinäjoki University of Applied sciences and University of Eastern Finland are together executing the Hydrofodder-project, where we are exploring the possibilities of using hydroponic fodder in Finnish conditions.
Hydroponic farming is a method where grains are put into trays without soil. Grains get water, enough warm, light and after 7 days the fodder is removed from the tray and can be fed to the animal.
For farm demonstrations, the Hydrofodder-project is leasing an insulated container, which includes the hydroponic farming system. Container will be in Finland in spring 2018.
